MARCH 25, 1998
- On Feb 18, 1998 the members who went to Europe came back.Their trip was successful in many ways. They gave several lectures and workshops in various universities in Spain and France. The lectures were about Los Horcones as a Walden Two community, about the personal implications of Radical Behaviorism, about how to teach children with problems of autism, etc.
Two members remain in Granada, Spain working on the first stages of a project for starting a Walden Two community there. As the first step, we are contacting people interested in the project and we will buy a house near the city. In this house, people interested in the project can meet regularly and attend courses related to behavior analysis applied to cultural design or community life.
- In March, we started an educational program at Los Horcones of giving weekend workshops to university students, mainly to psychology students. The workshops are about topics related to behaviorism, behavior analysis applied to daily life and behavior analysis of culture.
- By the end of march, we brought two ostriches to Los Horcones. They are young and we built a special pen for them. They were donated by a friend who breed them as business. We have a variety of animals in the community which we enjoyed. Also we receive groups of school children who come to Los Horcones to watch the animals and learn about ecological issues.
- We were invited by by the Association for Behavior Analysis (ABA-) and by the American Psychological Association (APA) to present a symposium at their annual convention*.This year the novel Walden Two celebrates 50 years and Los Horcones 25 years. Our symposium will be titled: "Walden Two: 50 and 25 years later".
*ABA convention will be held on May 22-27,1998 in Orlando, Florida, United States. APA convention will be held on August 14-16, 1998, in San Francisco, California.
