IF YOUR ARE TRAVELING BY AIRPLANE:
There is an International airport in Hermosillo with direct flights to and from Phoenix, Tucson, Los Angeles, Tijuana, Mexicali, etc.
Once you arrive to Hermosillo and go through customs, you can:
1) If you arrive at night after a long trip, and are not in a hurry, we recommend you to stay at a hotel in Hermosillo and go to Los Horcones next morning.
2) If you want to rent a car (you can at the airport) ask for directions on how to get on Highway 16 "to Yecora" (it used to be called road to Tecoripa). We are a few feet further from Km. 63 on the right side of the road.
3) If you want to take a taxi either to go to a hotel ( if it is late), to the bus station (central de autobuses) if you want to come by Bus. taking a bus to Los Horcones. There is a bus leaving the bus station at 3:30 p.m. which arrives to Los Horcones' gate around 4:45. You need to ask for the bus that goes to "Suaqui Grande" and tell the bus driver you want to get down at Los Horcones.
If you need to wait a few hours for the bus and do not want to wait at the bus station, you can go to look around the city (mexican culture). You can take a taxi to: Sanborn's (a cafeteria-library-store) or downtown to the Market "Mercado" if the weather is not hot.

DRIVING FROM HERMOSILLO TO LOS HORCONES:
Comming from USA:
First you need to get to Hermosillo, the capital city of Sonora. We suggest you to enter Mexico through Nogales Arizona (even ifyou are driving from California). There is a good freeway Nogales-Hermosillo. Nogales is one hour drive south from Tucson and 3 hours from Phoenix. NogalesArizona borders with a mexican town also named Nogales in the state of Sonora. Nogales is about 174 miles far from Hermosillo. Cross the border.
ABOUT CROSSING THE BORDER.
We do not like borders at all for both philosophical and practical reasons. Both Mexican and U.S. customs officers can be friendly or unfriendly and even mean to travelers from the opposite country. But do not worry or be afraid. It is just another product of a society that promotes discrimination and competition among its people. Practice self-control and tell them with a smile that you are going to Mexico as tourists, to visit various towns and beaches. This is better than saying you are going to an specific place and that you know some people. Customs officers may think you want to stay in Mexico. The same happens to us when we come to the U.S. If mexicans say we are coming to some place or with some friends officers make more questions, somtimes in aggressive or intimidating ways.
You need mexican car insurance. Some of our visitors have found the following agency to have reasonable rates and to provide detailed information on what papers you need and how to proceed once you cross to Mexico. The angency is Sanborn's their main office number is 1-800-2222-0158,their telephone number in Nogales Arizona is (520) 281-1873 and in Tucson Arizona: (520) 327-1255.
Once you are in Nogales Sonora.
You will soon notice the difference between an economically rich country and an economically poor country. In few places of the world you can see such contrast.
Keep going to the south on the same street you entered to Mexico and which will turn into freeway 15 to Hermosillo. Keep on that freeway until you get to Hermosillo.
There are two toll booths on the freeway where you paydepending on the kind of vehicle you are driving. Don't panic for the fee they charge.
Once you are in Hermosillo Sonora.
From Hermosillo you will take highway 16 to Los Horcones for another 39.5 miles (see the map). Keep on highway 16, you will pass infornt the FORD plant, later you will cross a train track, will passi nfront of a huge cement plant,(9 miles) then you will drive by a small village called "La Colorada"(23 more miles) and about 7-8 miles ahead you will read the Los Horcones sign on your right. Enter the main gate and follow the dirt road for less than half a mile, enter a second gate and shortly you will see the parking lot sign. Then you made it! You are in Los Horcones and we welcome you.
IF YOU ARE COMMING BY BUS.
There are direct buses from USA to Mexico so you do not have to change buses in Mexico. These buses are called "Cruissier" (Crucero in spanish) and you take them in the same Greyhound bus station in Arizona (Nogales, Tucson or Phoenix) or from Los Angeles California. They are the best choice because when you cross the border all the passengers get down the bus with their lugagge and form a line to pass a quick revision, then you continue on the same bus until you get to Hermosillo. The price from Tucson to Hermosillo is about 30 dollars. From Tucson they usually leave every 2 hours (7-9-11-1-3-5-7-9).
Once in Hermosillo there is a bus ahich leaves a 3:30 PM to "Suaqui Grande" and leaves you right at Los Horcones gate. it cost about 35 pesos. You have to walk on the dirt road for less than half a mile. then you made it!
